Bergen Community College was founded to satisfy the region's need for a convenient, affordable and comprehensive higher education destination. Currently it enrolls nearly 17,000 students in its academic degree programs. The College has three locations in Paramus (main campus), Hackensack (Ciarco Learning Center) and Lyndhurst (Bergen Community College at the Meadowlands) serve more than 32,000 students in degree, continuing education and adult education programs.

Bergen Community College programs prepare students for transfer to four-year colleges and universities, or for immediate entry into a career. Since its foundation, Bergen has offered open admissions, small classes, dedicated faculty, affordable tuition, brilliant student services, flexible scheduling, and a student centered campus. At Bergen the academic programs are classified as transfer or career programs.
Transfer programs, which includes Associate in Arts and Associate in Science degrees, are dedicated to follow a course of study that corresponds to freshman and sophomore offerings at most colleges and universities, and are designed for students planning to transfer into baccalaureate degree programs.
AccreditationThe College is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. Nine individual programs are accredited by specific associations and commissions.
AdmissionsBergen maintains an open door policy. This means that most programs are open to anyone with a high school diploma or the equivalent. Though some health programs have limited space and specific entrance requirements.
