Hartford Seminary is a theological college in Hartford, Connecticut that prepares leaders, students, scholars and religious institutions to understand and live faithfully in today's multi-faith and pluralistic world.
Hartford Seminary has three academic centers: The Center for Faith in Practice, Hartford Institute for Religion Research, and The Duncan Black Macdonald Center for the Study of Islam and Christian-Muslim Relations.
Hartford Seminary affirms its historic and continuing commitment to Christian-Muslim dialogue and commits to further dialogue with Judaism and other religious traditions. This establishment acknowledges the importance of spirituality in living out our mission and the value of ritual and symbol within the spiritual life.
Hartford Seminary is reaching out to local communities of faith. It offers the Black Ministries Program that was founded in 1982. This is a national model for leadership development in the urban church. In 1994 the Seminary launched a similar program that is Programa de Ministerios Hispanos, offered in Spanish, and strengthens leaders in the region's Hispanic churches.
At Hartford Seminary theological and religious education is contextual, dialogical, and interfaith. It is focused on cultivating the leadership potential of its diverse student body.
Hartford Seminary offers a wide range of graduate level educational options including graduate certificates and degrees. These programs help meet the needs of students and offer an outstanding educational experience.
Financial AidFinancial aid is offered at the College to students based on either need or merit. Federal student loans are also distributed to those students who qualify. It is required for students to reapply for financial assistance each year. Students are not guaranteed financial aid even if they received aid the previous year, and must maintain better than a B- grade point average to maintain eligibility.
