Originally founded in 1909 Samuel Merritt University formerly known as Samuel Merritt College is a fully accredited health sciences institution located in Oakland, California. Samuel Merritt offers degrees in occupational therapy, physical therapy, physician assistant, nursing and podiatric medicine. Samuel Merritt University is an affiliate of Alta Bates-Summit Medical Center and Sutter Health. Samuel Merritt University added five new programs in the past decade.

With campuses in Oakland, Sacramento, San Francisco and San Mateo student enrollment is almost 1,200.Students represent all ages, geographical regions and ethnicities.
