South College, formerly named Knoxville Business College, has been a part of the fabric of downtown Knoxville. Jacob T. Johnson started a division of Nashville Business College in Knoxville, Tennessee and soon renamed it Knoxville Business College. During its history South College has endeavored to meet the demands of the East Tennessee business community.
The college offers unlimited courses of accounting, business, computer related fields and also offers programs in such fields as paralegal and legal studies, criminal justice, medical assisting, physical therapist assistant, nursing, radiography, nuclear medicine, pharmaceutical science, physician assistant studies and elementary education. Programs are offered at varying degree levels.
South College offers a master's of Health Science in Physician Assistant Studies and bachelor degree programs including Pharmaceutical Science (Pre-Pharmacy), Nursing, Health Science (Radiography/Nuclear Medicine), Elementary Education, Business Administration, and Legal Studies. Current associate degree programs include Radiography, Physical Therapist Assistant, Paralegal Studies, Business Administration, Accounting, and Medical Assisting. Nuclear Medicine and Post-Baccalaureate Program are the certificate programs offered.
