The Union enrolls students from six continents who have come to learn with each other and from each other as a truly Catholic Church. Students at the Union are diverse, comprised of priesthood candidates, lay, religious, and occasionally from other faith traditions. The age range is from recent college graduates to retirees. As a graduate school of theology and ministry, several academic programs are offered to meet the diverse needs of men and women who wish to deepen their understanding of the Catholic faith and tradition and/or acquire various skills needed for ecclesial service to the Church.
WTU offers four Masters Degree programs: the Master of Divinity; the Master of Arts in Pastoral Studies; the Master of Arts in Theology and the Master of Theological Studies.
A wide variety of Graduate Certificate programs in the fields of Carmelite Studies, Franciscan Theology and Spirituality, Spirituality Studies, Spiritual Direction Studies, Pastoral Ministry, Theological Studies, Word and Worship or Lay Liturgical Practice are also offered through WTU.
AdmissionAdmission criteria depend on the program. Usually they include:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution;
- Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale verified on the official transcript; - Have completed at least six (6) credit hours in philosophy and religious studies or have completed significant credit hours in liberal arts and social sciences or completed at least 18 credit hours in philosophy and religious studies;
- Demonstrated interest, involvement, or experience in the work of the church.
