Atypical Students. Scholarships for Them.
Applying for college you shouldn't forget that this is also a scholarship season. There is a variety of scholarships that take into consideration students talents in academic fields and sports. However, the atypical learners have also an opportunity to find the appropriate one considering their unique skills and possibilities. Some of such scholarships are described below:
Vegetarians – The Vegetarian Resource Group's scholarship for vegetarians. Its applicants should show compassion and commitment to promoting a peaceful world through vegetarianism. Moreover, the application must be applied till February 20. The award amounts increase to two $5,000 scholarships.
Amputees. This is Claude S. Weiler Scholarship for Amputee College Students given by the National Amputee Foundation. The award is represented by six $500 scholarships offered to prospective or current college students who have suffered a major loss of a limb.
The other scholarship for amputees is promoted by the Ye Notorious Krewe of the Peg Leg Pirate. The award deadline is March 15; its amounts differ ever year.
Cancer survivors. There exists the Cancer Survivors' Fund, which grants college scholarships to those who have survived cancer or are currently battling cancer. Moreover, the learners who volunteer work to help cancer patients and survivors cope, may also apply for award. Its application is due March 23.
Besides, the students may receive the American Cancer Society's Young Cancer Survivors Scholarships. Such awards are offered to pediatric cancer survivors who reside in an area that is served by that particular division of the organization. The award amounts and number of scholarships depend on which division serves the particular area. Moreover, amounts typically vary from $1,000 to $10,000.
Other applicants. The people over the age of 50, who want to earn their degree, have a chance to receive assistance though the AARP Foundation's Women's Scholarship Program offering fantastic opportunities for low-income women over the age of 50. Such scholarships range from $500 to $5,000; the number of awards varies yearly. Applications are due by March 30.
