Known since 1970 as a career-focused, convenient, and caring provider of higher education, the Akron Institute of Herzing College has changed the Akron Institute of Herzing University title on March 1, 2009. These changes were happened in conjunction with the launch of the Herzing Educational System School of Graduate Studies and the presenting of four master's degrees in business administration. Besides, Akron Institute of Herzing University is part of the Herzing Educational System, an international organization operating fourteen campuses in the United States and Canada.
