Big Sandy Community and Technical College (BSCTC) was created in 2003 from the consolidation of Prestonsburg Community College and Mayo Technical College. BSCTC has four sites: Prestonsburg Campus (formerly Prestonsburg Community College) in Prestonsburg; Mayo Campus (formerly Mayo Technical College) in Paintsville; Hager Hill Campus in Hager Hill; and Pikeville Campus in Pikeville.

BSCTC provides a two-year course of general and technical studies developed for transfer to a baccalaureate program and/or training necessary to develop a workforce with skills to meet industry needs and remedial and continuing education to enhance the employability of citizens. BSCTC also offers an adult education program to prepare students for the GED and/or college. To advance its mission, BSCTC fosters a living and learning environment that promotes diversity and open educational opportunities via a variety of instructional delivery modes.

Accreditation
Big Sandy Community and Technical College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).

Admissions
Prospective students must meet certain criteria in order to be admitted to the Big Sandy Community and Technical College.

A completed application must be either completed online or downloaded, printed, and completed from the section "How to Apply" of the admissions website.  Freshmen will also need to provide:  high school diploma or GED test scores; scores from a placement test such as the ACT or COMPASS, and  an official transcript from all post-secondary institutions attended.
