Black Hills State University (BHSU) is South Dakota's third largest comprehensive public university. It offers both undergraduate and graduate programs. The 123-acre campus is located in Spearfish, South Dakota. Spearfish, SD provides its education at the Spearfish campus, at sites in Rapid City, Pierre, Yankton, Sioux Falls and through distance offerings. Students come from almost every county in South Dakota, 44 States, and 13 Countries.

AdmissionsNecessary steps in admissions process at BHSU are the following: 1) fill out the BHSU online application for admission or complete the Print & Mail Application; 2) request your high school transcript to be sent to the Enrollment Service Center (ESC); 3) send any previous college transcripts to ESC; 4) send ACT or SAT scores to ESC; 5) pay $20.00 application fee; 6) arrange a Campus Visit; 7) review tuition & fees, application for financial aid, and scholarship information; 8) complete Immunization Form; 9) register for fall classes during New Student Registration; 10) attend Green & Gold Days.
Financial AidTo apply for financial aid, students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). These forms may be obtained from high school guidance offices, the Financial Aid Office at BHSU or online. Financial aid options are scholarships, grants, loans and work-study.
