E-Learning
Learning that takes place when the instructor and student are not in the same geographic location. Taking an online course might enable you to earn college credit when you are unable to come to campus, providing more flexibility and convenience. There are two types of online courses:
- Fully Online Courses – all course requirements can be completed at a distance; there are no on campus meetings – except for perhaps 1 meeting at the beginning; may require proctored tests in a secured environment either at the college campus or at a suitable educational center (e.g., college, library)
- Hybrid Courses – majority -of the course requirements can be completed at a distance; courses may require on-campus meetings or labs
There is a misconception that online courses are independent study. While readings and assignments are typically completed asynchronously (anytime and anyplace), there are deadlines for assignments, and set times, dates, and pre-approved locations for proctored exams. In most cases, courses begin with the start of the semester or term and continue throughout the term.
Financial AidThe Financial Aid Award Notice is your official eligibility determination from Southeast Technical. Your eligibility is based on your enrollment level(s) for the academic year. The award notice will be mailed to you and students who have already attended orientation can view their award notice online as well. Keep this important document for future reference. If a loan or work-study is included with your award letter and you would like to receive either the loan or work-study, additional paperwork needs to be completed.
