The North Carolina Central University (NCCU) was licensed in 1909 and opened to students on July 10, 1910 as a private institution. The main purpose of NCCU is to teach students academically and professionally for becoming leaders. NCCU is an all-round institution, which provides its students with programs at the baccalaureate, master’s and selected professional levels.

North Carolina Central University has a lot of organizations and clubs that students may join to meet other students with whom they have similar interests or to find their niche on campus. The kinds of organizations range from academic, fraternity/sorority, governing body/representative, political/social action, international, special interest, religious/spiritual, social, sports/recreation, student media/publications to ethnic and multicultural.
