North Carolina State University was established in 1887 and since that time it continues to follow its initial goal – providing research, teaching and extension services to the residents of North Carolina. AdmissionAdmission to NC State is competitive. The University expects its students to be high-achievers, as it offers a professional education that will help its students to succeed in their future career life. Each student is considered to meet the following admission requirements:
- difficulty and level of classes taken
- class rank and overall GPA
- SAT or ACT Plus Writing scores not more than 5 years old
- elective activities
In order to be considered for freshman admission a future student should have a high school diploma or its equivalent and satisfy the UNC-system Minimum Course Requirements (MCR):
- Mathematics: 4 years
- English: 4 years
- Science: 3 years, including 1 year of life or biological science and 1 year of a physical science; 1 must be a laboratory course
- Social Studies: 2 years, including 1 year of U.S. history
- Foreign Language: 2 years (of the same language)
Financial AidNC State University has many financial aid options. NCSU is ready to offer the following types of Financial Aid: grants, scholarships, campus employment and loans. The funds for Financial Aid may come from state, federal, private and institutional sources. But in general there are two main kinds of Financial Aid: self-help funds (money that is borrowed and must be repaid, or earned while enrolled) and gift funds (money that does not need to be repaid).
