Sacred Heart University, founded in 1963 by the Most Reverend Walter W. Curtis, Bishop of the Diocese of Bridgeport, was established to provide the community with an affordable, quality education at a local Catholic university.
University consists of four colleges: College of Arts & Sciences, College of Education, John F. Welch College of Business and Health Professions, and University College. University College is created to answer the needs of the adult learners and offers evening, weekend and accelerated courses. The students are also offered an online learning opportunity which provides them with an Internet-based teaching/learning experience.
The program flexibility matches every student experience from undergraduate and graduate students to part-time adult students and online learners. Graduate Programs: Business - MBA and Certificate Programs, Chemistry, Computer Science and Information Technology, Criminal Justice, Education Programs, Environmental Science, Exercise Science and Nutrition, Geriatric Health and Wellness, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and Religious Studies.
Financial AidThe office of Student Financial Assistance will work with students to explore all the options and to maximize the federal state and institutional aid that they are eligible for. Sacred Heart University's Student Financial Assistance Office is also committed to helping students and their families find the most appropriate options available for college attending.
There are two types of financial assistance for full-time undergraduate students: traditional merit or need-based merit aid and a range of other alternatives open to students and their families whether they qualify for traditional aid or not. Some financial assistance options are also available to graduate students and qualified part-time undergraduate students.
