The University of New Mexico is the state’s flagship research institution. The University has branch campuses in Gallup, Los Alamos, Taos and Valencia County. The University enrolls around 30,000 students.
UNM boasts an outstanding faculty that includes a Nobel Laureate, two MacArthur Fellows, 35 Fulbright scholars and several members of national academies. UNM employs 20,210 people statewide.
The University offers more than 210 degree and certificate programs, 94 bachelor’s degrees, 74 master’s degrees and 40 doctoral programs. Through the Evening and Weekend Degree Program, nearly 40 complete degree programs are available with approximately 1,000 classes offered each semester after 4 p.m. or on weekends. About 12,000 non-traditional, working students attend UNM at night each semester.
The Health Sciences Center is the state's largest integrated health care treatment, research and education organization.
AdmissionApplications for admission are reviewed on a rolling basis. Admission decisions are issued by mail after all application materials are complete. Students are advised to apply early for admission (in the event of the need for additional information or supporting documentation). The application can be completed and submitted either by hard copy or online.
Students have to provide following documents:
- Official High School transcript(s) with Class Rank; or official GED scores;
- Official transcripts from all accredited colleges and universities attended (if applicable);
- Official ACT or SAT-I scores;
- A non-refundable $20 application fee.
Financial AidThe mission of the Student Financial Aid Department is to provide UNM students with the timely delivery of financial assistance while maintaining accountability and proper stewardship of the public, institutional, and private funds with which it is entrusted.
