The Office of Undergraduate Admissions at UNC Charlotte requires that all internationally-educated applicants have their foreign credentials evaluated by an accredited credential evaluation service. Many UNC Charlotte applicants choose World Education Services (WES) as their evaluation service.
Financial AidAll students (full time, part time, graduate and undergraduate) who wish to qualify for financial aid while attending UNC Charlotte must meet certain standards of Satisfactory Academic Progress. These standards include a minimum cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA), a minimum credit hour completion rate, and the completion of a degree or program of study within a maximum number of credit hours (See Satisfactory Academic Progress Requirements).
UNC Charlotte administers both need-based student financial aid and merit-based assistance. Financial Aid is based on financial need, with the remainder based on achievement, skills, and abilities. Whether aid is need-based or merit-based, there are two other distinctions: gift aid and self-help aid. Gift aid carries no repayment or service requirement, and is typically grants and scholarships. Self-help aid requires repayment or service in return, and is typically loans and employment.
UNC Charlotte uses the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as its financial application. No other form is necessary. The paper version is available in high school guidance offices and college financial aid offices. However, the quickest and most efficient way to apply is to complete the online FAFSA.
