Established in 1883, UND was intended to be a university with a strong liberal arts foundation surrounded by a variety of professional and specialized programs. The University of North Dakota emboldens students all over the world to communicate effectively, to be intellectually curious and creative, and to share responsibility both for their own communities and for the world.
The University of North Dakota is a great provider of distance and online learning. It offers courses, graduate certificates, and degree programs in an online or other distance format, including correspondence by mail, videoconferencing, and off-campus sites in Fargo, Bismarck, or other locations.
The University is located in Grand Forks, a college town of 50,000 on the Red River of the North separating North Dakota and Minnesota state. The campus includes 223 buildings on 549 acres. UND enrolls 13,172 students in 217 fields of study from baccalaureate through doctoral and professional degrees. Over 40% come from North Dakota; the rest represent all other states, eight Canadian provinces, and more than 50 nations all over the world.

The most popular areas include commercial aviation, elementary education, psychology, and nursing. Graduate education is offered in 83 programs, including professional programs in law and medicine.
Resources and ServicesThe Office of International Programs has three international student advisors who support international students from the time they are admitted to The University of North Dakota, through their studies at UND, and beyond. The advisors provide an extensive orientation to incoming students, ongoing advising on immigration and personal issues, and serve as an access point to the many services within the university.
Cultural centers provide gathering places and specialized resources for American Indian, African American, women and international students from all countries. More than 250 student organizations provide opportunities for fellowship, service, and extracurricular studing. Students are involved in University governance at all levels.
The University meets student needs with a full range of services, including health, counseling, veterans, disability support, learning, and more. An outstanding career services office assists graduates in all majors with job placement.
