The University of North Texas is a student-centered public research university and the flagship of the UNT System. More transfer students enroll at UNT than at any other college or university in Texas.
UNT is one of the state’s largest universities with 11 colleges and schools offering: 97 bachelor’s degree programs, 101 master’s degree programs, 49 doctoral degree programs.
UNT’s online Campus is the largest provider of online credit courses among Texas public universities and includes distance learning through web-based courses and videoconferencing. It helps students obtain a UNT degree no matter where they may live in the world.
There are more than 300 student organizations in UNT, including more than 30 fraternities and sororities, allow students to get involved, learn new skills and take on leadership roles.
AdmissionThe University of North Texas is a selective university and does not guarantee admission of all applicants. It is recommended that students apply well in advance of stated application deadlines.
Financial AidFinancial aid makes it possible for thousands of students to attend UNT. The Student Financial Aid and Scholarships office annually awards $202 million in financial aid, including $16.8 million in scholarships.
To meet the financial aid eligibility requirements students must: - Have a valid Social Security number;
- Have a high school diploma or a GED (general equivalency diploma);
- Be accepted for admission by the university and enrolled in a degree or certification program;
- Be registered with the Selective Service, if required;
- Enroll in and maintain at least a half-time class load at UNT and demonstrate satisfactory academic progress.
